Grey Squirrel Dish Cloth

Hello Fellow Readers and Writers–

As promised in my newest Two Old Biddies Mini Mystery, Make-One Missing, here are the dishcloth instructions so you can copy them and not have to try to follow 34 rows on your Kindle.

Materials: cotton or cotton-blend yarn (I used Lion Brand’s Cotton Ease in Stone), and  size 8 knitting needles.

Cast on 35 stitches.  Knit 3 rows if you used the long-tail cast on, and 4 rows for the simple cast on.

Border row 1: (Right Side), Knit across.      Row 2: Knit 3, Purl 29, Knit 3.     Now work the pattern rows as follows:

  1. K 13, P 9, K 13.

  31. Knit across.
  32. K 3, P 29, K 3.
  33. Knit across.
  34. K 3, P 29, K 3.       Now knit 3 or 4 rows, as you did in the beginning, then bind off.  Optional: When the last bind-off loop is still on your needle, slip in a G crochet hook and chain 12.  Fasten back to where the chain began.  This gives you a hanging loop for your dishcloth.   Weave in ends.     As I’ve mentioned in the book, this is my original design.  I don’t mind you making these and selling them, but PLEASE DO NOT SELL THE PATTERN.  I worked hard on designing it. 🙂  Well, that’s about it.  Happy Reading and Writing to you all,          Jill-Ayn
