Reading & Writing

Hello, Fellow Readers and Writers–

I didn’t want you to think I’ve not been busy, so here’s what’s happening up on the mountain:

I’m working on the next Two Old Biddies book.  The working title is A Tangled Yarn, and I just finished chapter eleven.  I’m also compiling material for my book about writing, which will be called How I Write: Writing the Cozy Mystery Without Plotting it to Death,  I’m hoping to have the fiction book available in about a month, and the nonfiction book a month after that.  As you can see, I’m always plugging away at my craft.

I finished reading an interesting book by Victoria Abbott called The Christie Curse, which was about finding a play Agatha Christie may or may not have written while she was missing for eleven days in 1929.  I love some of Ms. Christie’s books, especially And Then There Were None (also known as Ten Little Indians).  Ms. Abbott’s book got me even more interested in Agatha Christie, especially how she wrote, so I got her autobiography and  Agatha Christie’s Secret Notebooks, compiled by John Curran.  Fascinating reading!  If you’re a fan of Ms. Christie, you should read her autobiography.  She has quite a sense of humor.

As a writer, I’m always reading.  I read the good stuff and the bad stuff, just to see what has worked for other writers and what hasn’t.  It’s all a learning process.

Well, I’d better get back to work so I can keep on schedule.

Happy Reading and Writing to you all,

                                        Jill-Ayn

PS.  Just in case you were wondering, yes, I was named after Ayn Rand, the Russian author.  Guess my mom must have known I’d become a writer too.  Funny, huh?
