Rough Drafts

Hello Fellow Readers and Writers–

Well, the rough draft for Smothered in Yarn has been completed.  One of my friends asked me how soon the book would be on Amazon, because she’s antsy to read it.  Um…I said “rough draft.”  There’s a long way from that to a completed book.  You, the Readers, wouldn’t be very happy if all you had to read was the first draft of ANY author.  And that brings me to an important point for Writers.

You need to polish your work until it shines.  Yes, that may mean a lot of hours of rewriting, but believe me, it’s worth it in the end–both for you and your readers.  Just because you can publish it on Amazon, without going through all the hassle of an agent/publisher, doesn’t mean you should rush to publish.  Put out the best book you can, each and every time.  That’s what your readers deserve.

My goal has always been to make the next book better than the last.  It means that if you’re writing a series, you have to check for continuity between your books.  And, if you’re writing more than one series, as I am, you have to stay true to your protagonist’s voice in each of those different series.  Yes, it’s a lot of work, but aren’t your readers worth it?  You bet they are!  Because in the end, there are really only two ways to become a popular author: (1.) Word-of-mouth, and (2.) Repeat readership.

And, speaking of that, I’d like to thank all my Readers, for spreading the word about my books.  I couldn’t do this without you!

Happy Reading and Writing,
