Hello Fellow Readers and Writers–
Well, the editing is done on the third Senior Delinquents Mini-Mystery, Drop Dead Soup. We’re expecting snow the next four days, up here in the mountains of Southern California, so I’ll be typing away at the corrections, and should have the book ready to go by the middle of next week. Hopefully my cover designer will be working as hard as I am, and you’ll see the results on Amazon by the end of January.
Why am I such a stickler on editing? I try to limit my errors to only one or two per book. (Hey, nobody’s perfect, right?) I’ve read traditionally published books with more than that! One used the dead woman’s name for a live woman who was speaking a line of dialogue. I’ve seen names screwed up, bodies of water called ponds, later called lakes, the type of car a character drives, suddenly change to another make, and a ton of other glitches which I try to avoid. Hopefully you’ll look past my minor errors and keep reading.
But all those errors in paperbacks lead me to one question: “What are editors doing?” Certainly they aren’t really reading the books they give to the publishers to put out there. In the end, I guess it comes back to the writers, and traditionally published writers are left like us Indie writers–they have to edit their own work, so you readers can enjoy the story.
So, bear with me. I’ll do my best to put out a good story, with as few errors as possible. It takes time, though, so you have to be patient. 🙂
